ARTISTES FOR FESTIVAL 15th AUGUST 2020

Debbie Bond    www.debbiebond.com

Singer, guitar player and songwriter Debbie Bond has been paying her dues in the Alabama backwoods for over 30 years. Her singing has been compared to Bonnie Raitt and Maria Muldaur, both of whom she cites as being influences on her music. The truth is that Debbie does it her way, playing a dynamic mix of soulful originals and covers.  Her immersion in the blues has deeply flavored her guitar playing, soulful voice and original song writing, yet her sound is contemporary and original, incorporating soul, blues, rock, jazz and Americana influences.

The Milk Men    www.themilkmenmusic.com

The Milk Men is a band made up from the cream of British R’n’B talent and pedigree.  Bringing together members of the legendary Pirates, and British Blues Award-nominated the Mustangs, The Milk Men have been tearing up venues and festivals all over the UK with their dynamic, white hot versions of classic blues tunes, alongside unforgettable foot-stomping originals.  The Milk Men’s sound has been called ‘ZZ/DC Feelgood” by some critics, who have lavished praise on the band’s dynamic live show and original songs. But the band draws its influences from all corners of the blues world, from early Rod Stewart, through classic Rolling Stones & Steely Dan, to the heavier blues leanings of ZZ Top and AC/DC.

Henry’s Funeral Shoe     www.henrysfuneralshoe.com

Henry’s Funeral Shoe was formed by two brothers in 2008 from South Wales, inspired and influenced by many of the albums that singer/guitarist Aled Clifford had looted from his father’s vinyl collection when he was growing up. The Who, CCR, Peter Green, Robert Johnson and the Beatles were favourites, and Aled quickly became a gifted guitar player, aided and taught by Ned Edwards, a long time collaborator of Van Morrison.                  Aled soon played with various bands, eventually doing some recording sessions for producer Ian Grimble, and even recording at the legendary Abbey Road studios. His younger brother Brennig started playing drums at nine. At fifteen he joined a local band, learning his trade by performing covers of The Clash and Thin Lizzy before moving on to writing original material. The dexterous brothers have finally joined forces to create some of the loudest soulful rock’n’roll to come out of the UK in a long time.

The Fugitives    www.facebook.com/thefugitivesbandcardiff/

Cardiff's premier R&B Combo.   At first glance, an almost impossible hybrid of all that is good in direct British blues based music, Big Steve leads his marauding invaders into your eager ears ….. and then your hearts!  Yes, we did say British … The Fugitives are the pride of Cardiff and Cardiff pride runs deep!

Keith & Julie Richards   www.keithandjulierichards.com

Hailing from Blackwood in the Welsh valleys, this acoustic duo features earthy vocals and harmonica playing from Julie, driven by Keith’s solid blues picking, slide guitar and stomp box.  Together, they deliver their own take on a range of Blues classics, along with a few self-penned numbers thrown in for good measure.
